Veterans - What Ride-Away Does For Them
According to the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (www.va.gov),
of the 25 million Veterans currently alive, nearly three of every four
served during a war or an official period of hostility. Additionally,
about a quarter of the nation's population -- approximately 70 million
people -- are potentially eligible for VA benefits and services because
they are veterans, family members or survivors of veterans.
Our Norwalk, CT Ride-Away location would like to take this opportunity to say thank
you to you and all of our Veterans for allowing all of us to enjoy the
freedoms we have every day as a result of your sacrifices. We have
established an adaptive equipment maintenance program honoring our
disabled Veterans and we would also like to share some valuable
Veteran's Administration benefits information with you.
Adaptive Vehicle Veterans' Administration Benefits You May be Eligible For:
Did you know that you may be eligible for the following?
- The Veterans' Administration offers a one-time automobile grant of
$11,000. If you haven't used it yet, you can apply it towards a
modified vehicle.
- 100% Service Connected Veterans are eligible for two vehicle conversions every four years or one every two years.
- Veterans that trade their modified vehicle in every two years
typically have less out-of-pocket expense getting into a new van than a
veteran that trades at a later date.
- The Veterans'
Administration will allow for the purchase of a pre-owned modified van
using their depreciation schedule for reimbursement.
Below is a hypothetical situation for explanatory purposes only:
A
Veteran trading in, for instance, a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan with a
Braun Entervan II conversion with less than 24,000 miles could
potentially get the following:
| Purchase a New 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SE | $26,600 |
| Receive a rebate of $2,000 | ($2,000) |
| Mobility Rebate | ($1,000) |
| Value of trade-in | ($23,600) |
| Out-of-pocket expense to Veteran | $0 |
| Floor Conversion | $24,000 |
| Veterans Administration conversion reimbursement | ($24,000) |
| Out-of-pocket Veteran expense | $0 |
Additionally, since the Veterans should be eligible
for reimbursement from the Veterans' Administration for some of the OEM
equipment on the van, such as power windows, power locks and air
conditioning - that's a $800-$3,000 value with no cost to you, the
Veteran.
