Starting in 1986, Ride-Away began modifying vehicles for people with disabilities and quickly became the dominant leader of the vehicle modification business. From the early stages of carpeting and paneling to full-service wheelchair lifts and ramps, raised and lowered floor van conversions, and full primary and secondary control modifications, Ride-Away has been a pioneer in the vehicle modification industry and continues to lead this growing and emerging market.
We built our industry-leading position on the expertise of our employees, the commitment of management and the passion of our owner. By adhering to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), becoming a Quality Assurance Program (QAP) facility and creating the Adaptive Driving Alliance (ADA), Ride Away improves the quality of life for people with disabilities everyday and with every turn of the odometer. Today, Ride-Away is the largest provider of vehicles for people with disabilities in the United States with offices from Maine to Florida. The company contributes over 10% of its earnings to non-profit organizations and has an 85% employee volunteerism rate in charitable activities.
Mark Lore, President & CEO
When Mark Lore started Ride-Away, the excitement was about developing better products and services, building his team, and following a plan he hoped would foster success. That was 23 years ago! Today, Ride-Away has become America 's largest retailer of modified vehicles and adaptive equipment for people with disabilities and its employees are recognized as both industry experts and community leaders throughout the East Coast.
When Ride-Away opened its doors in 1986, it based its long-term success on one simple premise: The quality of life in our communities directly affects the success of our business. A simple premise, yes, but a premise that speaks to the very nature of Ride-Away, its culture, and its commitment to greatness. Giving back to the communities in which they serve is just one way Ride-Away honors its longevity, success and leadership position. Their philanthropic commitment occurs on several fronts, most notably through corporate giving and employee involvement.
Mark Lore started Ride-Away to help people and change lives. He wanted to be judged, not only by the services Ride-Away provided, but also for what Ride-Away did to improve the quality of life for all people in the places they served. Mark believes that the secret to life is simple: to give back unconditionally to others - all others.
